Description
An old decaying wooden dam in Northern Michigan.
A timber crib dam built by the Atlantic Mining Company in 1894. The dam created a reservoir on the Salmon Trout River in Redridge, Michigan, used supply water to the Atlantic stamp mill to extract copper. The steel dam was built and this dam was submerged in 1901. In 1941 on Easter morning the spillway of the steel dam broke and caused a flood. Then in 1979 large holes where cut in the steel dam lowering the reservoir level to expose the original wooden dam.
