You might be tempted to call this a red-eased woodpecker but you would be wrong it is a red-bellied woodpecker. You can tell this is a male because the red goes from the beak to the back of the head whereas the female has a bill in the red just above the bill.
Michael has had a fascination with photography since childhood, however, later in life it has become a more important aspect of his life. He sees photography as a means to bring the beauty of creation to other people. Life is too valuable and precious to him to just let it pass by. Michael and his wife, Suzanne live in Northern Michigan in a log home on their flower and berry farm. Much of his wildlife photography comes off the farm or location close by it.
