The lion is part of the Scott Fountain on Belle Isle in Detroit, a fountain that almost was never built. James Scott left the money to build the fountain but in his will he said the city can only have the money if they built a life size statue of Mr. Scott. He was however so despised by the people of Detroit it took about 15 years before the statue was built, it was completed in 1925.
Michael has had a fascination with photography since childhood, however, later in life it has become a more important aspect of his life. He sees photography as a means to bring the beauty of creation to other people. Life is too valuable and precious to him to just let it pass by. Michael and his wife, Suzanne live in Northern Michigan in a log home on their flower and berry farm. Much of his wildlife photography comes off the farm or location close by it.
