Artist's Description
One of the visitors to the garden, these spiders capture many other insects making them a welcome addition. This on I believe to be a Carolina Wolf Spider (Hogna carolinensis) aka Giant Carolina Wolf Spider, the largest of the wolf spiders in North America. Females will live 3 or more years while the male life span is much less. They are Terrestrial but sometimes burrow a little, they hunt for pray mostly at night.
