Description
Standing 40 to 48 inches the Sandhill Crane is among the worlds tallest birds and they have an impressive wingspan of up to 7 foot. They are often seen in large fields or marshy areas. These two have just completed their spring migration in time to experience a mid April snowstorm. The rusty color that os often seen is due to the feathers being stained by mud while preening themselves. They have yellow to red eyes, the juvenile birds will have yellow eyes.
