The flowers are tasty and can be used into salads, they can be crystallized and eaten like a “candy.” The attract a large number of bees while at the same time repel Japanese beetles and tomato horn worm. A tea made from the leaves is sometimes used as a fever reducer and the oil from the seeds is said to lower blood pressure. These are just a few of the uses of this beautiful wild flower. The brilliant blue flowers are star shaped and thus the plant is also referred to as a starflower.
